Ruby in her favorite spot
I got to go home at noon on this sunny first day of Summer.
The catch: I am about to go back and get to work 7pm to 7am. Much coffee will be consumed. Thankfully I can watch tv and read to help pass the time. Sadly, sleeping is frowned upon.

If you haven’t tried it already, I recommend cold brew coffee during these times. Awesome coffee flavour, no acidity to burn your stomach, extremely high caffeine content, and it’s cold for the nice summer weather we’re finally getting.

I actually have a vacuum brewer that I use to make a cold brew coffee concentrate that I always have available in the fridge. It’s great for days like this where I’ll want a little extra kick to my brew and heats up nicely for days when I’m too lazy to break out the French press or pour over unit.

Nice! I have a simple Hario jug with a fine filter and I just let it steep for a while, I’d say at least 12 hours.

Oucch, sounds rough.
Not wanting to rub it in, yet I will, It’s the first of my ten nights off work.
Ten nights of no idiot managers who couldn’t run a piss-up in a brewery.
Customers (who are in by and large good people with brains) who will ask me, ‘is your beef free range?’, (to which I replied, that isn’t a thing, but ye’s the cows spend so much time outdoors, I’m classing myself as a battery human, as I get less time outside).

This is what I have. I found a great deal on the original version when they updated it. I definitely wouldn’t pay $100 for the new version though.
If you run it for 5 minutes you can drink it as is; 15 minutes makes it super strong where I need to add some water.

Damn! I didn’t know something like this existed!
I drink a fair bit of coffee and this is great but it’ll probably be expensive as fuck in Canada.

I am very thankful to be in an industry where I have very limited contact with those we serve.
At a previous employer we were the emergency after hours contact for a county water department. The number of dumb questions and outright rude people was astounding.
The only good part was if someone wanted to curse me out I had written permission that if they failed to calm down I was allowed to hang up on them. I probably hung up on one woman 25 times over the course of a night.

I get some good customers. We get talking about whiskeys and I bring in some 50ml samples of what I have for them to try. If they are into car cleaning or just keeping their own car clean I’ll bring in some product samples, tell them how to use it or go to their house and wash it or take time off to show them how to do it.
There is a young lass recently who’s into Guinness and whiskeys so I’ve been educating her on the different Guinness products out there and types of whiskey.
They always express their thank you's and sometimes give me something to try be it a whiskey or cake.
